Support for students
Consultation and Support
In addition to assessing individual needs for support and reasonable adjustments (NTA), our team advises students with study-related impairments on various topics related to studying at UZH, such as:
- Study organisation with disabilities or chronic illnesses
- Assistive tools and support in studies
- Accessibility on campus
During a personal consultation, we identify potential challenges and suggest measures and solutions that have been effective in similar situations.
The Disability Office offers various services, such as:

Registration for a Consultation
Consultations are possible at any time, but it is advisable to register as early as possible, even during the orientation phase before starting your studies. If registering after enrollment, please do so at least eight weeks before the semester begins. For general consultations, email fsb@sib.uzh.ch.
If adjustments to study conditions or exams are necessary due to your specific situation, we will support you and recommend reasonable adjustments for the relevant faculty.

The online platformUniability UZH provides extensive information on the physical and technical accessibility of key UZH buildings.
The core of the platform is the building directory Gebäudeverzeichnis, where you can find details about wheelchair parking, step-free access, elevator announcements, hearing loop systems in lecture halls, and many other useful features.
In addition to the building directory, the platform offers additional tips, information, and overviews, such as:
- Orientation aids at UZH for people with visual impairments

- Overview of all wheelchair parking spaces at UZH
- Wheelchair-accessible tables and seating in lecture halls
Allocation of Accessible Rooms
If you need your lectures to be held in wheelchair-accessible rooms or lecture halls with induction loops, it's important to arrange this before the semester begins.
You can find information on how to proceed under the section Zuteilung barrierefreier Räume (German) on Uniability UZH. The office can assist with these arrangements if necessary.
Key for Step-Free Entrances
For certain elevators or step-free side entrances, you may need special keys, which can be ordered through the Disability Office. Please follow the instructions provided on Schlüsselvermittlung (German) for the application process.

- Familiarising with lecture halls, guiding to exam rooms, assisting with literature research for those with visual impairments
