Services for Students

Advice and Support

The Disability Office offers various services which enable people with an impairment that adversely affects their ability to study to receive the necessary support and ensure that they are not at a disadvantage in their studies.

Our team will be happy to advise you on the various issues related to studying at UZH with impairments. They will explain the potential difficulties that can arise and which measures and solutions have proved to be helpful in the past.

In addition, the clarification of the individual need for support and reasonable accommodations is also part of the Disability Office’s remit in accordance with § 25 of the ordinance on admission to studies at the University of Zurich (VZS), § 25a of the University Statutes, and the framework ordinances of the faculties.

The goal of our work is to ensure that you can concentrate on and use your energy for your studies as effectively as possible.

Registration

If you would like to take advantage of the office’s advisory services, please use the registration form (see downloads on the right).

Consultations are in principle possible at any time, but it is advisable to register with us as early as possible. You are even welcome to do so during the orientation phase before you begin your studies.

If the conditions for studying or taking examinations need to be adjusted to ensure that you do not suffer any disadvantages as a result of your special situation, the office will be happy to help you and recommend specific accommodation measures to the respective Office of Student Affairs (see procedure for accommodation measures).

If you do not register until after your matriculation, you should ideally do so around four weeks before the start of the semester.

You can use our information sheet to prepare for the consultation (see downloads on the right).
